Lawn Aeration

Do I need to aerate?

Michiganders love spending time outdoors and we love our pets. Unfortunately, heavy use of our yards can in time have an impact on the look, feel, and health of our lawns. High foot traffic can prove a breeding ground for many lawn enemies of any healthy, thick, lawn: compacted soil, thatch buildup, insect invasion, weeds and more. Over time, compressed soil and thatch can suffocate your grass at its roots, restricting it of necessary nutrients before killing it entirely.

What will a Core Aeration do?

Top Lawn's state of the art Core aerators are self-propelled machines with rotating hollow tines that push into the soil, removing plugs that are 0.75 inches wide and about 2 to 4 inches long. Depending on the type of aerator, holes are spaced from 2 to 6 inches apart. Aeration works best when there is good soil moisture. Top Lawn offers Spring and Fall aerations to provide our customers with optimal results. Core aeration will coincide well with the active growth period for lawns in the spring and fall.
